| ~ quote ~ |
"And he whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together... "Tell me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane. Tell me
where to touch you to give you the ultimate pleasure. Tell me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other." And I kissed him softly and whispered
back, "Touch my mind."

Since destinyawakened created the lj community connor_wright for fans of the 4th Terminator movie, Terminator: Salvation, and asked me to co-mod, we've been trying our best to promote the community. Considering the amount of members it has gained, I'd say we've been quite successful.
T4 also inspired me to write about the tension sparking off between John Connor and Marcus Wright while simultaneously fixing the unsatisfying ending of the movie. The results, so far, are three parts of what I've dubbed the Make Your Own Fate-'Verse that now have all been uploaded to storyteller's campsite. The stories are titled #1 - 'Time is ticking down', #2 - 'Atonement', and #3 - 'Missing In Action, Presumed Dead' respectively. They range from gen/pre-slash to slash (John Connor/Marcus Wright) and have a total word count of 10,372 words. Enjoy!

God, the Terminator universe has taken over my brain. At least connor_wright has taken off far, far better than I would have ever imagined. Anyway:
Make Your Own Fate #3 - Missing In Action, Presumed Dead Author: allaire mikháil Fandom: Terminator: Salvation (T4) Pairing: John Connor/Marcus Wright, Kate Connor Rating: PG-13 Genre: slash Summary: The world John Connor knew didn't end until 11 May 2019. Beta thanks to: destinyawakened and art_badger.
Disclaimer: The Terminator universe belongs to James Cameron, Warner Bros., McG and a lot of other people, none of which are me.
Author's notes: This story is set in the same universe as #1 - Time Is Ticking Down and #2 - Atonement, although knowledge of the prequels isn't vital. It has slight references to the official movie prequel, "From the Ashes" by Timothy Zahn, but again, knowledge of the book is not required.
The download-friendly .html version of this story can be found here, and the post to connor_wright here. Enjoy!

This is just so, so PERFECT:
Kudos to Jonathan McIntosh of Rebellious Pixels for having Buffy Summers say to Edward Cullen what Bella should have done. Best quote ever:
Edward: "I like watching you sleep, it's, umm, kind of--" Buffy: "Get out or I will drop you out - head first!"
(Jonathan McIntosh has a large quicktime version of 93 MB of the vid available for download on his page.)
Not that I actually think anyone on my f-list aside from myself hasn't already watched this, like, weeks ago. Still.

6,283 words so far.
:::is hyperventilating:::
edit 05 Jul 2009: The finished story clocks at 7,887 words. Pre-beta, that is. We'll see whether it'll end up being longer or shorter afterwards. Oof. I think the story needs a couple of outtakes, because I could have said so much more on several occasions. Heck, I wanted to.

1. One thing in SPN fanfic of late sends me into a frothing rage whenever I encounter it - the usage of "demon whore" for Ruby. While I prefer AUs in which she's truly on the Winchesters' side, I can accept and read canonish fic set post-episode 4x22. But this expression? What the fuck?!
Canon!Ruby has only ever had sex with one person (that we've seen, anyway), and that happened to be Sam. And even if she had slept with an entire soccer team, the fact that the body that would have done so wouldn't have been hers (and she wouldn't necessarily have experienced many of the sensations) makes the whole thing rather questionable, anyway. Ruby - the demon, the mass of amorphous black smoke, the crunchy filling inside the meat-suit - uses the body she's possessing like a tool, and that includes sex. No matter her past, now she's essentially genderless.
Despite that, I'm perfectly fine with an author (or her characters) calling her a "manipulative, traitorous bitch", a "fucking liar", etc., but "demon whore" insults me as a woman. Female villains aren't automatically "whores". A "whore" is (one of) the most demeaning and disrespectful term(s) for a female prostitute. Male villains don't get randomly called "cheap callboys", after all.
Writers, insult Ruby all you like (or have Dean insult her to his heart's content), but please, don't pull the "whore" card. Castiel using this expression to refer to her? Is even more disgusting and catapults me out of a story so fast my head spins.
2. In the new Batman movie!verse, the Gotham police department is abbreviated "GPD", not "GCPD". Watch the movies; in one of them, Jim Gordon wears tactical gear with the lettering "GPD" on his collar. "GCPD" is a falsehood that has been perpetrated by far too many writers recently. Watch your source material, goddammit, and don't rely on fanon to avoid doing research.
If "GCPD" is commonly used in the comic!verse, I apologize. My knowledge of the Bat!verse beyond the two most recent movies would fit into a thimble.
[Edit 25 Jul 2009: Evidently both abbreviations show up in the Nolan!verse, and "GCPD" is the one commonly used in the comics. That means "GPD" is out, and "GCPD" wins. Hmpf. Damned inconsistent movie!verse. Mea culpa.]

| Plot Outline: Kate Connor, time-traveling heroine |
[Thu, 18.06.2009 @ 19:53] |
Tentative outline for my next story:
4 parts, each with a different POV.
Part 1: 2019; John Connor's POV. Kate Connor, as one of John's lieutenants in the Resistance, is charged with destroying a new SkyNet facility of which the Resistance has received information that it is the machines' first attempt at creating a working time-travel mechanism. John has to remain behind at headquarters. He looks after his and Kate's twin babies, Sarah and Kyle, and ponders the strange attraction he feels for Marcus Wright.
Part 2: 2019/2032; Kate Connor's POV. Kate's team is either killed or evacuates the building, while Kate is in its center and discovers that the plans have proceeded further than anticipated: SkyNet's mechanism is almost ready for its first trial. In immediate danger of being destroyed, SkyNet decides to risk it and send a T-800 model 101 Terminator through the mechanism to travel to the year of Sarah Connor's birth and kill either its mother shortly before delivery, or baby Sarah. Kate has no other choice than follow the Terminator if she wants to preserve the original timeline.
Part 3: 2032, future John Connor's POV. Kate arrives at a SkyNet facility of the future, not, as thought, the past. So did the T-800. They fight, soon joined by future John Connor and possibly future Marcus Wright. John and Kate are both shot; John not lethally, while Kate gets shot in the gut. She knows there's no way the human's medical facilities will allow to heal her wound. They destroy the T-800's body, although its head is preserved. Kate extracts its CPU and re-programms it, planning to send it back to 2004 so it can help past-John Connor and herself evade the T-X. She asks John to put the re-programmed CPU into a current T-850 model 101 Terminator and send it back, using a closed-down SkyNet facility (John had it secured by pulling the time-travel mechanism's main component). Her program includes partially falsified information. By not telling her younger self of her death and announcing John to have died in 2032, she hopes to give their younger selves the strength and motivation to get together and fight the machines. She's comforted knowing that her children are alive and happy (and around 13 years old), and that John has found love again in Marcus.
Part 4: 2019, Marcus Wright's POV. Marcus ponders the events of the last months (Kate has been declared KIA when the facility blew, although John mourns having no body to bury), wonders about the time paradox regarding 2032, but enjoys growing closer to Marcus. They have both mourned their lost loves (Blair was given the lead of another Resistance cell in another country and left before things between the two of them could become physical beyond 2nd base). Marcus thinks about his growing acceptance among the Resistance and John's family, John's attempts to stay close and yet distanced from Kyle Reese, and lives through his and John's first time of having sex. Marcus can feel, although physical sensations are muted in his new body. The sex is rough, John uses his teeth and nails to stimulate Marcus' skin, Marcus has no prostate, so all sensation while he's on the receiving end have to come from his cock and balls, and his anal muscles. John admits to (and lives out) his Terminator fetish.
the end.
edit 07 Jul 2009: Realized - with slight changes - as "Missing In Action, Presumed Dead".

Why the fuck is there an lj comm for Reese/Wright and none for Connor/Wright? Reese belongs to Sarah Connor. One of the (not so) few canonical het pairings I've accepted as my OTP. Hah.

Katy Perry - "Hot N Cold" |

The new movie might not have given me much, but one thing I'm certainly thankful to it for: I've started reading Star Trek: TOS fiction again, that is, original K/S slash.
Now that the K/S Archive has had a major overhaul, it's finally searchable by word count, and as usual, I've started with the longest stories. Of course, I've discovered that I've already read perhaps 95 % of them some time in the past, but even despite that, it's been very entertaining.
Aside from my old pet peeve, that is.
First of all, let's state that I'm a Kirk girl all the way. I have to say that I've always found TOS!Kirk more visually appealing than TOS!Spock. Not that I consider young Leonard Nimoy unattractive, but him, I would shove out of bed for dropping crumbs. Young William Shatner, though? Not so much.
Character-wise, I believe I've always found Spock more interesting, due to his mixed heritage, his past, and his balancing act between two cultures as well as between his logical, Vulcan and his emotional, human half. My appreciation for Kirk's character came only later, although not very much later. He was styled as the ultimate hero on the show, and somehow his heroic characteristics always came across as genuine virtues, not as fake, superficial airs. His friendship with Spock and McCoy, his sense of responsibility for his ship and his crew, his empathy with strangers, his honor when facing equally honorable enemies, his ingenuity, his intuition, his willingness to sacrifice his personal happiness for duty or friendship... I could go on and on. Add to that a past at least as intriguing as Spock's, and I was hooked.
Jim Kirk survived Kodos the Executioner's massacre on Tarsus IV at the age of 13 (which can provide a really interesting backstory with sexual abuse in fanfic), was a studious and quiet student ("a stack of books on legs", according to his old friend Gary Mitchell) during his time at Starfleet Academy, and didn't become the womanizer he's famous for until he got into space. His first girlfriends were all serious relationships, and apparently only these break-ups, his love for command, and the example of his parents' marriage - George Kirk was almost never home - caused him to settle for short, casual affairs from then on. He worked for his rank of captain, for his command of a Constitution class starship, and didn't become Starfleet's youngest captain due to luck, arrogance, influence, hotheadedness, or unwillingness to study, apply himself, or take his challenges seriously.
The stories that showcase his character best, I think, are UKJess' 'Lost and Found' and 'Strong Together'.
Last but not least, Kirk is an Alpha personality. He is very much the captain, even in his private life, and not a submissive little flower looking for a protector from the bad, bad world.
Which is why I so, SO detest a certain view in K/S in which he's written as Spock's willing bottom, sextoy, and slave. Kirk might very well pretend to accept a submissive role when in a dangerous situation, but all along he'd be planning how to escape and save himself as well as the people he's responsible for.
Not that I ever see Spock as being willing to crush Kirk's bright, forceful personality into the dirt in order to get a broken, pliant shell of a man, but that's another rant altogether.
And all this because, once again, I was too stupid to stop reading soon enough in a story in which Kirk is brought into Vulcan's past, enslaved by Vulcan warriors, and collared by Spock - a Spock who plays mighty ruler of all, makes his decisions without consulting Kirk, treats him like a toy, forcibly melds and bonds with him, and is generally a domineering asshole of the first order. Urgh. My brain hurts, and my stomach's upset.
Some characterizations? I will. Never. Ever. Understand.

I must say that I like Castle more than The Mentalist. Both shows are about consultants with a special "knack" for helping in investigations, but whereas Patrick Jane relies on his boyish smile at least as much as on his insight into people, Richard Castle's use of his "celebrity status" is secondary to his off-the-wall ideas and unusual connections.
Plus, Castle doesn't always end on a family-appropriate reconciliatory note (thank God), but, as the season finale proves, prefers to go out on a bang of a cliffhanger.
Rick has found out something about the ten-years-past murder of Detective Beckett's mother, but apparently we have to wait for the big reveal in the next season since, thankfully, the show has been renewed by abc.
I, for one, can't wait.

As of yesterday, I now also have a Dreamwidth account - thanks to xkatjafx - that you can find at allaire @ dreamwidth.org.
I don't intend to move away from livejournal as my primary blog as long as my friends and the communities I read remain at lj, but should a general move happen, I'll switch over just like the rest.
For the time being, I'll crosspost to both journals, and keep waiting for DW to create a few more S2 layouts with niftier looks. Should anyone who reads this know how to tweak an existing DW stylesheet's CSS to, say, include a header, more links or better-looking dividers between entries - well, I don't have a firstborn, but I promise I'd love you for ever and ever. Or something like that. *g*
edit: I now have a really gorgeous layout. Before I forget, the importer for lj content to DW is here.
